“In nature, nothing is perfect and yet everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.” ~Alice Walker

Lynx Creek to Colman – 18 miles
I am waiting for a huge salad doning in my rain gear (my clothes are in the laundry) at the Limber Pine Restaurant across the street from the Paddock Inn in Coleman. This is a great town. The Paddock Inn did our laundry, held our resupply packages, and has super zippy WiFi.
Basically after being in this country just a few days, I think everyone in Canada is friendly, open, and giving. Seriously.
I bought new bear spray first thing today from the Fly Shop because I lost mine on the first day hiking somehow while bushwhacking. Bear scat is everywhere! I need it.
Today was mostly ridge walking (my favorite), trekking on dirt road through an old burn area and walking in logging areas.
There is a heat wave. The sun has been intense. Me and overheating do not go well together.
The next section is 7 days long, going from Coleman to Kananaskis. We are a bit concerned about the weight of our packs, carrying all that food!
My take on the “weird bear scat” is that it’s bear grass, which bears eat right before hibernation to plug up their digestive system so the don’t have to poop while they hibernate. When they come out of hibernation, their first poop is going to be a huge plug of bear grass.
Breathtaking views on this trip!!
That first photo: beautiful! No wonder why you hike these strenuous trails in all kinds of weather.
So when you say “Me and overheating do not go well together”, that’s me too. Do you know how hot it was?
Did you bring an umbrella too? Looks like they are trusty traveling companions.
That first photo with the lupin is absolutely gorgeous.
Absolutely beat me to it!
Spectacular images.
That would be big scat for our local Coyotes (Southern California).
Scat…coyote or wolf
