Day 3 – GDT – Pub and Easy Walking

“The world was not wheeling anymore. It was just very clear and bright and inclined to blur at the edges.” ― Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises

July 8

Castle Valley to Lynx Creek – 19.7

At first light we hit the trail to make it to T-Pub at Castle Ski Resort for breakfast and hot coffee at 9:00 am.

Heaven, I say, heaven.

Not only did we get breakfast, but fast WiFi and a bit of wine to pack out for tonight’s dinner. That 3 hours at the pub was well spent and worth it!

Today’s trek was mostly cruising on dirt roads with a bit of bushwhacking straight up a hill. Oh, we met our first GDT’er Bruno, from France.

Tonight we toasted to another successful day on the GDT.

  1. Bushwhacking would be a little nerve-wracking, I’d think. Cheers to a well done day.

Nice to see a Hemingway quote. Papa certainly did like the outdoors. Looks like another great trip. The scenery just blows me away.

Forgot to add. Hem was probably describing the latter stages of drunkenness rather than the beauty of the outdoors.

Just beautiful! I seem to remember a similar photo of Wired and E pushing their way through the very same bushes.

  4. “Crazy beautiful views and wildflowers” -I couldn’t agree more.

Wine in a bowl. Somehow that is ultralight!

Sounds like a nice rewarding day after all the peaks .. Well worth a toast at day’s end.
