Below Amiskwi Pass at Ensign Road to Caires Creek – 13.8 miles
Welp…I am in the same fix that I experienced on the Theodore Solomons Trail. Waiting for a high swollen river to go down overnight.
We came to the raging creek at around 2:00 pm and decided to wait until morning to try to ford.
This time I just know it is going to work. Why? because Cairens Creek is glacier fed, it was a HOT day and it will be cold tonight.
My alarm is set for 4:00 am. Plan A: cross at a safer lower place in the creek. Plan B: Cross on 2 logs that wooble but others are using it. Plan C: Retreat
It was really nice just hanging around this afternoon. It is 7:30 in the evening, the air is cool on the banks of the creek, and I just know the rushing sound of water will lull me to sleep.
Oh boy! Hope it went well.
There are standing waves under the log crossing, better stay firmly on the log! Hope it is all a good memory by the time you read this.
Anxious to hear how your crossing went. Such beautiful country and how peaceful to camp by the creek. Awwww!!!
My husband and I love the color of the rivers in Canada because of the glacier flow. They are gorgeous. I hope you can cross safely. We don’t want you to fall in the river!! So many gorgeous views in Canada.
Yikes!
I can relate! Ha ha
Hope you can safely cross!
