Day 20 – GDT – Rockwall Big Day

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be. ~Anne Frank

July 25

Floe Lake to Helmet Creek (Kootenay National Park) – 17.2 miles

I love early morning starts. Today was no exception. The morning lighting on Floe Lake and the pass above was exquisite.

Still…quiet…peaceful…

Why Not and I had fun posing for a few photos. It was that good.

The hike today followed the popular Rockwall Trail for 30 Kilometers with drastic elevation gain and loss.

Canada’s glaciers are dramatic and large in unique flowy contortions.

Tonight I submerged in an ice cold creek and feel simply devine and ate an extra bar before hanging my food bag.

It was a good day.

Rockin’, your smile is so lovely. It really conveys the place-inspired happiness you are feeling. And it is contagious.

I haven’t been following the comments, so this might have already been asked. Given all the residue in glacial water, doesn’t your filter get clogged up? BTW my wife and I are going to be in Field beginning on the night of Sunday, 7/28. Anything you need/want?

Simply stunning! And I love the quote.

  7. Teresa Skye

    Stunning photos! What a trail!

  8. These photos are absolutely stunning, and the hiking looks amazing. What struck me about this post was the Anne Frank quote. Such poignant words from a girl who was trapped hiding indoors for 2 years.

  9. What beautiful photos of a simply glorious landscape! I’ve so enjoyed following you on this hike!

  10. Oh heavens, that is truly awe-inspiring Christy. I might have to go there!
