It’s Here…It’s Here!

For having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged, by better information or fuller consideration, to change opinions, even on important subjects, which I once thought right but found to be otherwise.

Guess what I got in the mail today?

Yep, the yearly Editor’s Choice Awards and Gear Guide issue of Backpackers Magazine. Every year I look forward to pouring over the top gear picks tested by experts in the field.

Issues of Backpacker Magazine have been in my mailbox monthly since 1999. I save, mark and sometimes refer back to them for trip and gear information. I am a LUCKY lady to have designated gear storage area in my home AND I also have a handy person on site to keep things organized. Above is his latest and greatest creation made simply from a copy paper box turned sideways. The trick now is to ACTUALLY put the magazines back in this oh so nice order!

Hey, has anyone every noticed that this very coveted issue’s front cover always features an orange backpack and/or boots??? Funny.

  1. I have it in my bag right now! I’ve been looking at it bit by bit when I get down time subbing.

  2. I just don’t know how to respond to these pictures. Ooooo Ahhhh just doesn’t seem appropriate. I will be sending up some Martha Stewart magazines to add to your stash. Just teasing, of course. Kinda reminds me of my quilting magazine collection. OK, I just discovered that I don’t have an orange backpack. That must be my problem.

  3. Would you share with me the information about your new camera that you used at Yosemite? PLEASE!

    • The more I use this camera the more I know I am getting spoiled by its size and power. The pics taken on this blog entry are taken in RAW (first time I have used this format), ISO 800, Aperture 2.0 with no editing just resized for web use. I bought my Panasonic LX5 on Amazon for $399.00. PROS: love the 24mm wide angle lens, takes sharp photos, nice weight and size, buttons are easy to use and find, love not having to post edit ALL the time, I use the flash very little because of the camera’s low light possibilities, I think it also does a pretty decent job on macros. CONS: still getting used to a lens cap on a small camera, need to find a case that works better for me.

I know everyone says you can’t get the same photos with a point and shoot as a DSLR but I sure would like to try!!!!!!!
