GDT – The Real Trail Part 2

It is so fun to look at and share photos after a trip.

I am on my way home to quite a different life. A new chapter. Some of you just might have noticed I am still out hiking and not back at school teaching. New things and I am pretty excited about it.

I shared a few of Why Not’s photos of me in the crazy and beautiful on a previous post. This is a continuation of more of her photos that sometimes tell a different side of the journey.

If you haven’t already started following Why Not, be sure and visit her blog at nancyhikes.com. She pretty much has hiked everywhere with thousands of miles under feet. She is the real deal! All photos were taken with her Google Pixel Phone camera.

Enjoy!

What great photos, Rockin’! I’m just getting off the trail to find my hiking peeps are all out having a magnificent time on other trails. So inspirational ?.

  6. Retirement? It’s so nice to see the ‘real trail’ shots. Makes it seem like out takes after a film!

I’m sure you are glad to have completed this hike on the GDT but also sorry it’s over. So many gorgeous views to soak into your memory. Thank you for the photographic journey we had with you. I loved the photos because I love the beauty of Canada, especially the rivers with that beautiful color. Looking forward to your next journey.

  9. Rockin–how many pairs of bottoms did you hike with and what brands are they? So hard to find ones that fit and are comfortable!

Hello there! I started the trip with a pair of Kuhl zip off pants, but I lost weight and it was humid and hot. The Kuhl pants did not dry out well. When I resupplied in Banff I bought Prana shorts and a quick dry Columbia black stretch pant that I love. That combo worked great for Canada.

  10. I find the trail action shots extremely helpful. Pretty views are one thing but earning those views is quite another. I’m confident you’ll meander right into your next chapter. Excited for you and look forward to sharing some miles.

Thanks to WhyNot for all the bonus pictures of you climbing and clambering over downed trees, and thanks to you for such wonderful amazing blogs on the GDT. I often felt as if I was there ooooing and ahhhhing at all the magnificent mountains. You hinted at a big change – could that just possibly mean the Big “R” with many more wonderful adventures to come? Can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Congratulations on the finish of such a beautiful “journey”. Good luck in your future endeavors and hope to be able to follow along on those also!!

  13. Rockin’, I’m super happy to hear you confirm you’ve reached, what I sometimes refer to as “the second half”. I picked up on that on DropNRolls blog and I’m so stoked for you. You’ve made it there and in such great shape. I sure hope that you can enjoy the wandering lifestyle for many years to come and that it will be so ultimately rewarding. And I certainly can’t wait to read more about it.
