Now I see the secret of making the best person, it is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.

Little Whitney Meadow to Saddle Above Broder’s Cabin – 18 miles
This was a tough day.
We descended 2,500 ft. to the Kern River, up 4,000 ft. over Coyote Pass and 5 miles down through old burn with thick Hawthorne and Manzenita covering the trail. We both had trouble with the heat and tried our very best not to complain!
We came into camp nauseous and lightheaded.
This area is beautiful, wild, and open. Foxtail Pines, flowing water, and healthy forests abound.
This route was created during a time the trails were maintained and used. Now many of the sections are overgrown. The miles between Coyote Pass and Broder’s Cabin is in bad need of trail maintenance.
Nice Pictures, Christy. Following with interest your trip. Brings back some nice memories. 🙂
Thank you Mario. I was having a lot of trouble with the WordPress app on this trip that I use to create blog posts. The photos had trouble loading with captions. I am going to add them later.
Wow, 10,000 ft elevation. The photos are beautiful. You are a great photographer.
You are very kind. I was really feeling the elevation this trip. Glad you are enjoying the trip.
Well, keep up the good spirits and hopefully the trail is better tomorrow.
YESSSSS, turns out this was the worse day for bushwacking. Thank goodness.
Wow!! Maybe with your post someone
will take notice and start maintaining the trail again. High temperatures and bushwacking would have left me very irratatable !
Great photos keep thanks for sharing!
The forest service contacted me through Facebook. They wanted a trail report. They indeed are wanting to maintain parts of the trail. This overgrown section is on a beautiful ridge overlooking a valley.
Great photos. One reminds me of Devils Postpile. I bet no one else is out there but you two. How great is that?
This trip is very remote on little used trails. A gem in the Sierra.
