Day 1 TST Part 2 – Unfinished Business

“And into the forest I go, To lose my mind and find my soul.”

South Lake to Simpson Meadow – 25.6 miles (lots of elevation loss 12,000 to 5,000)

Today was perfect.

To access the Theodore Solomons Trail where Sally and I left off in June, we hiked up Bishop Pass, down the JMT, and then hiked down the Middle Fork Trail to Simpson Meadow. It worked slick and I highly recommend the Middle Fork Trail. It is well engineered, diverse, and pretty.

Tonight we decided to cross the river in the morning and we have a lovely camp beside the river.

Tomorrow is Sally’s birthday so it is her day, she gets to call the shots. I am certainly looking forward to it.

  5. Good golly, wish I was there!! Just beautiful just the way I like it.

I haven’t read of much swimming this year. Too cold?

  6. Amazing Pictures as usual Christy. Thanks for sharing. Happy birthday to Sally, I can’t think is a better way to celebrate it than in the backcountry. 🙂

  7. Looks awesome. I haven’t been down the Middle Fork trail since before the bridge washed out. It was late summer 1976 and was beautiful. Your pictures bring back lots of fine memories. Thanks.
