The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of the year. NOT because it is snowing on my blog (yes snowing) or that it is an opportune time to ask for cool new gear for Christmas or that in my part of the country it has already snowed, BUT because:
- It marks the time to start some serious trip planning for the upcoming year. It is a time of maps, books, dreaming, training, research, shopping for great buys on new gear, lists, lists and more lists.

Also, the season gives me the opportunity to make an annual CD Calendar that features some of my favorite outdoor photos. They are little calendars that fit into a CD case. I usually purchase a calendar template online and then have fun adding photos from the year. I just love giving and making these.
The plan is to share some the of photos in the next few blog entries from the 2011 Calendar I am in the process of putting together. Since this really is a process the photos will be in no particular order. 🙂

Snow Plant ~ Echo Lake
Believe it or not I spotted this unique grouping on the PCT just a few feet after crossing Interstate 50 south of the Lake Tahoe, CA area. I had cell service at the time, was just a few miles from a resupply box with LOTS of food and the potential opportunity of an upcoming hot shower. Moments like this are just the best!
What a great gift idea! Can you tell me where (URL) to get a template that works for this? I assume it has to be one the size to fit the CD case?
Thanks! I love giving them for gifts. If you Google “2011 CD Calendar Template” there are free templates that can be downloaded and used in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or in Microsoft Word. I find a new one each year that I like. Lately, I have been ordering plastic CD Calendar cases made just for this purpose Calendar Case, but you can assemble them from a regular CD case.
