Well, we are done. And what a humdinger of a day. Our team kept on the move, we summited Half Dome (the highlight for me), made it to Happy Isle before dark, and celebrated with pizza and salads at Curry Village in Yosemite Valley.
John Muir Trail 2017
After much struggle, a few of our team members due to exhaustion, fear, blisters, a wedding shower, and knee pain will not be continuing. I admire the strength in hikers that say “no” and know they will be back at it another day. The trail will be there. They are the true heroes.
Grant has saved me on a log crossing and Dan scooped me up after falling in a stream. Not good.
Day 4 – I am Strong, I am Stable, I Will Walk
Your body can do anything…
It’s your brain you have to convince.
Woods Creek to Upper Basin – 16 miles
The John Muir Trail 2017 is complete.
This high snow year made for some pretty tricky and dangerous creek fords, along with fun snow crossings. Our team was determined, supportive, positive, courageous, and mostly a lot of fun. But it wasn’t all fun and games.
Up next this summer … The John Muir Trail.
This evening I will be joining my family, the Bowersox family, and Michelle for 2 weeks of sure fire excitement, challenge, and lots of laughter. The gang is geared up with microspikes, ice axes, bear cans, and 8 days of food.
