Day 11 – GDT – Zero Day Here We Come

“If the winter is too cold and the summer is too hot, you are not a hiker.” ~A Bitter Hiker

July 16

Elk Lake Campground to Kananaskis Trailhead end of Section B – 6 miles

Luxury. Waking up to a dry tent and sleeping bag.

After 6 days of no shower, I was so ready.

We buzzed early morning to our exit Trailhead, walked a mile and a half to Bolton Trading Post, bought necessary supplies, quickly downed a bag of chips and a Dr. Pepper (gasp), then spent 10 minutes under a spray of perfect hot water.

A generous couple gave us a ride 30 miles to the Kananaskis Village exit, then we hitched to the Village and got a ride from a group of Australians. The Village is the site of the Calgary Olympics and very Resort.

After lunch, Interneting, dinner, more Interneting, we hitched to the Kananaskis Hostel with a nice young man.

The hostel is lovely and super clean. I just love it.
