Mariposa Grove Wallpaper

Mariposa Grove ~ Yosemite National Park Wallpaper
This month’s photo was taken on a short day hike on the way down from Wawona Point in the Mariposa Grove – Yosemite National Park . The day was wet, cold and sleeting. The photo captures snow lightly falling. If you live in California you are certainly aware of our drought conditions. This photo motivates me to pray for wet weather and to diligently conserve water. In contrast, Dan and I visited this same area in 2011, a record high snow year. Pretty amazing and scary. Check it out:  Mariposa Grove and Glacier Point Cross-country Ski (Yosemite)

  1. Beautiful shot – loving this one as well!
I was up in Mammoth around Twin Lakes a couple of weekends ago with my Grandpa, who’s lived up there since the early 50’s, and he said he’s never seen the snow level that low in January. Pray for rain (and snow) indeed.

  2. We did get a little flurry of snow that melted before it hit the ground yesterday. How about you? On another subject: I hope you got the thank you note I sent via your e-mail.

  3. What a splendid, natural cathedral!

  4. Thanks for the pic! Looks great on my 5s.

  5. Well, glad you saw any snow there. We are indeed suffering from a draught. My brother lives in the Central Valley and one of the lakes he fishes is only at 21%. We indeed need to pray for rain! -My neighbor flew over the Sierra’s (regular business travel) a few weeks ago and he said there was no snow anywhere that he could see and it was the worst he’d ever seen it. I sure hope that the 10-15″ of snow that came last Thursday is only the beginning.

    Awesome picture by the way!
