August 31 – Almost a Walk in the Park

The thing to remember when traveling is that the trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast and you miss all you are traveling for.

Stubblefield Canyon Creek to Dorothy Lake
14.6 miles

Today was one of those days when you take it slow and easy. The trail, believe it or not was mostly flat the entire day. Walking was replaced with strolling, stopping, taking long breaks, relaxing, and enjoying mother nature. The miles did not matter because we are ahead of schedule. So nice.

The terrain through this area is a water wonderland with meadows, meandering streams, and trail that looks more like it belongs in a well manicured park.

We decided to stop early at Dorothy Lake, so we could take a swim and do some needed housekeeping. While swimming Au natural a helicopter flew very low over the lake. What are the odds of that?

Dorothy Lake is beautiful and pristine with a sandy shore lining the lake. Tonight there is a sliver of a moon highlighted by orange, a gentle cold breeze, and alpen glow on the surrounding peaks.
