August 29 – Swimming

I trade sweat for strength.
I trade sleep for sunrise.
I trade doubt for belief.
I trade my walking for nothing.

Glen Aulin to Smedberg Lake
20.2 miles

Today was just one of those days in the Sierras with ideal temps, very few bugs, no impending weather system approaching, sparkling warm lakes, and beauty abound.

We got a 6:00 am start and quickly hiked 8 miles in the cool crisp morning. My favorite. We had lots of elevation gain and loss all day, but the trail was gentle and in great shape. It feels so right to have the pack back on.

We got into camp at Smedberg Lake after a long day and I enjoyed my first mountain lake swim of this summer. I am a happy camper.

  1. I’m so glad you had a perfect day!!!! Love you!

    • A swim in a lake, no huge obstacles, and just putting one foot in front of the other… now that that is living!!! Well at least for the present. 🙂 Thank you for being my encourager and friend during my escapades into the wilderness. You are just the best.
