August 28 – The Ideal

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Tuolumne Meadows to Glen Aulin Campground
5.9 miles

Life is good. This backpack started with good friendship, food, a few evening downhill miles to a campground, solar potty, running water, no mosquitoes, and warm weather. The rangers were even super friendly when we got our permits at the Tuolumne Ranger Station. I am spoiled and it is great to appreciate and know it.

A couple of months ago the section from Tuolumne to Sonora Pass was filled with dangerous and wide river crossings. For some it was the end of their PCT trek. For us it will be an area that is healthy and sports easy stream crossings. My plan is to laugh, walk a lot, swim in a lakes, and enjoy the trail.
