Joshua Tree National Park

“Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain.”

Desert Tortoise

After the ADOPCTKO (Annual Day Zero Pacific Trail Kick Off) festivities, equipped with expert trail tips from a favorite park ranger, we headed north to the south entrance of Joshua Tree National Park.  We day-hiked  the Lost Palms Oasis  Trail that starts outside the Cottonwood Ranger Station.  This 9 mile round trip easy hike travels up a peak, visits 2 springs, and the largest grove of  Palm Trees in Joshua Tree. The highlight of this adventure was the sighting of a desert tortoise!

The desert… all you have to do is step out of your car to embrace its hidden treasures!
