Mobius Arch – Who Knew?

Mobius Arch

VIEW TRIP!

A great tip from a fellow hiking buddy led us into the Alabama Hills, home to the movie sets of numerous famous old westerns outside of Lone Pine, CA. What an unexpected winter find! After golfing at the Mount Whitney Golf Club and shopping at Lone Pine Elevation (my new favorite hiking gear store) we headed for the Mobius Arch at sunset. This is one of 12 or so arches in the Alabama Hills that is famous for framing Mt. Whitney. The coolness of winter is an ideal time to explore the course granite boulders of the Alabama Hills. The arch is an easy stroll just a couple miles off Movie Road. For detailed directions visit Summitpost.org

Mobius Arch

Rounding out the day we dined at the Mt. Whitney Restaurant famous for its array of unusual burgers. We tested the buffalo and ostrich and loved the unusual flavors of both! Next time we plan on ordering the venison and elk burgers. Adding to the experience, we enjoyed delicious carrot cake and blueberry pie. The atmosphere was full of energy and the service was excellent! A great day leaving us with more arches to explore!
